About this listing

Push back the glass wall at Le Cheval and the polo grounds open out from the back garden — match at three. Four bedrooms sleep eight in a two-story modern villa fronting the polo field in El Polo, with an included cook handling all the meals. The fit: a family with kids who’ll spend the day between the climbing fort and the pool, two couples on a long weekend, or a friend group who came for the match and the modern villa over the colonial estate.

Mornings start at the picnic table, kids already on the climbing fort. The match is at three. The family pulls chairs to the bottom of the garden, drinks in hand, every guest looking the same direction at once. The pool sits to the side with parasols for the off-match days. By sundown the family eats at the long outdoor table, with festoon lights overhead.

Le Cheval sits in El Polo, beside the Equestrian Center. Teeth of the Dog — ranked the Caribbean’s top course by the World Golf Awards — and The Links are a short ride up the road for the round, and Minitas Beach Club is a short ride the other way for the beach day when polo is dark. Altos de Chavón is a short drive up the cliff for the evening above the river. Book Le Cheval when the trip is built around the polo and the family side of the resort, not a sprawling estate where the polo is the side trip.

Frequently asked questions

What is it like to stay at a villa fronting the polo grounds at Casa de Campo?
Le Cheval sits at the back edge of an active polo field, with the lawn running to a low hedge that separates the villa from the playing surface. On match days, guests typically pull chairs to the back of the garden or up to the upper terrace and watch the chukkas from home — riders going by within sight, the announcer audible, the family staying out of the sun under the shade trees. When polo is dark, the same lawn turns into a kids’ garden with the climbing fort and the hammocks between trees. Match schedules run through the polo season; the on-site concierge can confirm match days for any travel window.

How accessible is golf from Le Cheval?
Teeth of the Dog — ranked the Caribbean’s top course by the World Golf Awards — and The Links are a short cart ride up the road from Le Cheval, with tee times arranged through the on-site concierge and green fees paid at the Pro Shop on arrival. Dye Fore is a slightly longer drive across the resort to the cliffs above the Chavón River. The Equestrian Center is at the same address for a ride if someone wants to switch from polo to a trail.

Is Le Cheval suitable for a family with children?
Yes. Four bedrooms sleep eight across two levels, with the primary suite upstairs and the other three bedrooms on the ground floor. The lawn at the back is enclosed on the villa side and open to the polo grounds, with a wooden climbing fort and hammocks between the trees for the off-match hours. The pool is set to the side with parasols and loungers. The cook handles family-schedule meals — breakfast at the picnic table, lunch by the pool, dinner at the long outdoor table. Baby equipment, golf carts, and pre-stocking can be arranged through the on-site concierge.

How is Le Cheval different from other modern villas at Casa de Campo?
Two things. First, the position: Le Cheval is the only villa at the resort with a lawn that fronts an active polo field — the match at three is part of the day at home, not a separate trip out. Second, the design: a geometric wood-block motif runs across the front door, the staircase railing, the wall art, and the bedroom headboards, set against mid-century modern furniture and a red statement sofa in the great room. The other El Polo villa in the collection, Vista del Polo, leans into a brand-new statement aesthetic with an indoor reflecting pool. Le Cheval is the polo-watching family villa, where Vista del Polo is the statement villa.
